Deep News04-23

China’s Ministry of Commerce stated that it has formally submitted comments to the European Commission regarding the proposed revision of the EU’s Cybersecurity Act, expressing the country’s official stance and serious concerns. The remarks were delivered during a regular press conference on April 23 by He Yongqian, a spokesperson for the ministry. The comments were submitted on April 17.

The ministry urged the EU to attach high importance to and carefully consider China’s feedback and proposed amendments. Should Chinese enterprises face discriminatory treatment as a result of the revised legislation, China may take measures under the Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China and the State Council’s regulations on industrial and supply chain security to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

At the same time, China emphasized that cooperation and dialogue are the appropriate ways to resolve issues between China and the EU. It expressed willingness to work with the EU to properly manage differences through consultations and jointly maintain the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains.
