A report indicates that the regional industrial division of labor and cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN has become more profound.

The 2026 China (Guangdong)-ASEAN Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Exchange Meeting was held in Guangzhou. The event was jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Government and the ASEAN-China Centre.

The "China (Guangdong)-ASEAN Supply Chain Cooperation Report 2026," released at the meeting, shows that the industrial division and collaboration between Guangdong and ASEAN have deepened further.

This report was jointly prepared by the CCPIT Academy and the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Building on the inaugural report from last year, this year's edition maintains a business perspective, focusing on Guangdong's advantageous industries and ASEAN's resource endowments to systematically outline the latest developments in supply chain cooperation between the two sides.

The 2026 edition of the report reveals that the trade scale between Guangdong and ASEAN continues to expand, with the trade structure continuously optimizing, laying a solid foundation for deepening supply chain cooperation. Guangdong primarily undertakes segments such as technological research and development, and the provision of key equipment and core components.

Meanwhile, ASEAN's supply chain supporting system is continuously improving, leading to deep integration across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments of the bilateral supply chain.

The report also puts forward six recommendations to promote the deepening of supply chain cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN. These include leveraging the signing of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 upgrade protocol to strengthen supply chain connectivity and explore new spaces for cooperation in the digital economy and green economy.

It also suggests enhancing the enabling role of technological innovation by relying on high-level innovation platforms to foster cross-border technology collaboration.
