Shares of PRADA (SEHK: 01913) surged more than 6% in trading. At the time of writing, the stock was up 6.43% to HK$40.4, with a turnover of HK$555.269 million.
This significant movement follows reports that the Italian fashion powerhouse, in collaboration with the US commercial space firm Axiom Space, has advanced its new-generation lunar spacesuit inner layer, the Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG), into its ultimate testing phase. This gear, specifically engineered for NASA's Artemis 4 mission, represents a landmark moment as it is the first instance of a luxury brand engaging deeply in the development of a core system for a manned spaceflight program.
Prior to this latest development, Prada had already made a prominent entry into the realm of space fashion earlier in 2024 through its partnership with Axiom Space, which saw the launch of an outer spacesuit model named the AxEMU. Furthermore, Prada has secured an international patent for the LCVG's dynamic temperature control algorithm. The company's research has also yielded a bio-monitoring fabric capable of transmitting astronauts' vital signs in real-time.
