In a recent initiative to strengthen water management achievements and ensure compliance with drainage standards among food and beverage establishments, the Mufushan unit of the Nanjing Gulou District Urban Management Brigade collaborated with public urban governance committee members and volunteers to conduct a targeted inspection of drainage facilities in newly opened restaurants within commercial complexes.
Previously, the Mufushan unit utilized long-term patrols and grid-based management to provide proactive support during the renovation phase of these businesses. They offered detailed explanations of urban management regulations, guided owners through licensing and approval procedures, and assisted in completing necessary preparatory steps to facilitate smooth operations.
During the inspection, the team referred to standards outlined in the "Urban Drainage and Sewage Treatment Regulations" to examine each new restaurant’s drainage permits, pipeline layouts, external drainage facilities, as well as contracts for waste oil collection, qualifications of recycling enterprises, and related documentation.
At grease trap installations, urban management officers carefully inspected equipment maintenance and operational conditions, reminding responsible parties to adhere to kitchen waste management protocols, perform regular cleaning, and prevent oil buildup that could block urban drainage systems.
Moving forward, the Mufushan unit will conduct unscheduled follow-ups to verify corrective actions. Through continued outreach and inspections, they aim to enhance regulatory control, uphold high standards, and contribute to the long-term improvement of water quality in Nanjing.
