On December 2, the Dong Guang County Meteorological Bureau in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province partnered with CHINA UNICOM's Dong Guang branch to establish a "Meteorology + Telecommunications" integrated service platform. This initiative aims to enhance meteorological services through telecommunications technology while optimizing communication safeguards with precise weather data, jointly improving the county's disaster prevention capabilities and emergency communication support.
CHINA UNICOM's Dong Guang branch will leverage its extensive communication network and user base to enable "instant, county-wide alerts" for meteorological hazards such as heavy rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms via SMS, app notifications, and dedicated enterprise lines. Special emphasis will be placed on improving information delivery efficiency in rural areas, enterprises, and key facilities.
Additionally, the company will provide 5G, IoT, and big data support to the county meteorological bureau to optimize weather station layouts, enhance data transmission speeds, and strengthen storage security, jointly advancing the development of a smart meteorological observation network.
The two parties will establish an emergency coordination mechanism for extreme weather events. The meteorological bureau will issue severe weather alerts to CHINA UNICOM, assisting in flood, lightning, and wind protection measures for communication infrastructure. In return, CHINA UNICOM will prioritize maintaining critical communication lines for weather monitoring and alert dissemination, ensuring robust support for emergency meteorological services and disaster response.
