Huangzhong District Hosts Inaugural Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine Wellness Culture Promotion Event

On May 21, the inaugural Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine Wellness Culture Promotion Event was held at the Huangzhong District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Xining City's Huangzhong District. Co-organized by the Qinghai Provincial Health Commission, the Xining City Health Commission, the Huangzhong District Federation of Trade Unions, and the Huangzhong District Health Bureau, the event was hosted by the Huangzhong District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Huangzhong District Tibetan Medicine Hospital. It forms part of the provincial series "Passing the Torch of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Medicine Nourishes Qinghai – From Intangible Cultural Heritage into Qinghai's Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine."

" The event provides a platform for the inheritance, innovation, and professional exchange and display of Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine culture in Huangzhong District, enabling more people to approach, understand, and trust Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine, thereby allowing it to better benefit thousands of households," introduced Wang Xin, Deputy District Chief of the Huangzhong District People's Government. As a significant birthplace of Hehuang culture, Huangzhong District possesses a profound heritage in Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine, with a long history of inheritance and development. In recent years, the district's Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine sector has achieved substantial progress, with comprehensive hospital departments and steady improvements in talent cultivation and service capabilities. Intangible cultural heritage skills such as Tibetan medicine Youtong therapy and Tibetan medicinal bathing have been revitalized, playing a crucial role in safeguarding the health of people from all ethnic groups.

The event site featured seven functional zones. In the free medical consultation and diagnosis service area, Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine experts from 17 medical institutions at the provincial, municipal, and district levels provided free consultations, health advice, and chronic disease management services to citizens on-site. In the appropriate technology experience zone, citizens could experience traditional therapies such as acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, and wax therapy. The intangible cultural heritage skills exhibition area showcased techniques including Tibetan medicine Youtong therapy, Tibetan medicinal bathing, and Tibetan bloodletting therapy. In the medicinal cuisine display and tasting area, attendees could sample high-altitude wellness medicinal cuisine for free. Additionally, the event included zones for Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine culture promotion, interactive experiences, and health education, disseminating scientific wellness knowledge to citizens present.
