On February 4, the sound of children's cheerful laughter filled the winter break childcare center at ZTO Express's Northern Headquarters in Langfang. Teacher Zhang Yuxuan was leading the children in games. "The program officially opened on February 2," Zhang Yuxuan said. "Each day includes homework tutoring, fun reading sessions for academic reinforcement, as well as quality development activities such as reading sharing, creative art, film appreciation, and team-building games. There are also daily physical activities like table tennis to promote well-rounded development."
Wang Pan, an operations staff member at the ZTO Express Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Management Center and a mother of three, enrolled her children as soon as she learned about the company's initiative. Both Wang Pan and her spouse work at the center. "When I work the night shift, my 12-year-old eldest child looks after the younger ones. Previously, during school breaks, the children stayed at our hometown in Gu'an, and I always felt uneasy being apart from them," Wang Pan explained. "Now they attend the program near the cafeteria, where three meals a day are provided. I can work peacefully in the warehouse knowing they are nearby."
To address employees' difficulties in caring for their children during winter break and to help them focus on work, the ZTO Express Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Management Center launched its winter break childcare program on February 2. With a focus on safety, happiness, and enrichment, the program attracted 23 children of employees aged 7 to 15, covering elementary to middle school grades.
Wang Xiaosha, an operations supervisor from Handan who recently transferred to ZTO's Northern Headquarters two months ago, enrolled her child on the program's opening day. "We will also spend the Spring Festival in Langfang. The childcare program organized by the company's labor union truly meets the needs of working parents," Wang Xiaosha remarked.
Ran Tianhong, head of the Human Resources and General Administration Department at the ZTO Express Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Management Center, provided further details. ZTO's Northern Headquarters serves as a high-end smart supply chain hub connecting the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and extending its reach across northern China. With over 2,600 employees from across the country, the company's labor union identified childcare during winter break as a common concern. To alleviate employees' worries, the center launched its first winter childcare program. The classrooms are equipped with customized ergonomic desks and chairs, advanced multimedia facilities, and the cafeteria staff prepares three balanced meals daily. Each child also received a custom uniform and backpack featuring the ZTO logo. The free program attracted 23 children aged 7 to 15. To accommodate the peak season during the Spring Festival holiday, the childcare center will remain open.
Wang Xiaoru, a security inspection worker from Shaanxi whose spouse works in Beijing, has a child attending middle school in Zhuozhou. "Every Friday, no matter how late I finish work, I drive back to Zhuozhou to take care of my child. When winter break began, my spouse and I discussed renting an apartment near the company to bring our child here. We were pleasantly surprised when the company introduced the childcare program. Now I don’t have to travel between Langfang and Zhuozhou, and I feel both relieved and secure," Wang Xiaoru shared.
"As a key measure to enhance employee care, we will continue to optimize our employee benefits system," Ran Tianhong stated. "We aim to establish the summer and winter childcare programs as regular, branded benefits, providing strong support for employees' families, solving the challenge of childcare during breaks, and enabling employees to work with peace of mind."
