Semtech rose 4% overnight, trading at $132.7/share. Semtech reported fiscal Q2 non-GAAP earnings of $0.71 per diluted share, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $0.57 by approximately 24.6% and representing a 73.2% increase from $0.41 in the year-ago period. Revenue came in at $341.9 million, surpassing the $328.6 million estimate. The company also issued Q3 guidance. Management had previously indicated that its data center business grew 85% year-over-year in Q2, while in mid-August the company commenced mass production of two new LoRa Plus transceivers, the LR2022 and LR2012, which together with the previously launched LR2021 form a complete three-chip product matrix covering sub-GHz IoT applications through satellite connectivity.
Shares of Zoom Communications fell 4% in overnight trading as the video-calling platform reported solid results for its fiscal second quarter and gave no updates on its potentially lucrative stake in Anthropic.
The company reported adjusted earnings of $1.55 a share for the quarter, up from $1.53 a year ago and above analysts' expectations for $1.48, per FactSet. Revenue rose 4.9% from last year to $1.28 billion, beating Wall Street's call for $1.27 billion.
Zoom posted a $1.6 billion gain on its strategic investments, most of which likely came from its estimated 0.31% stake in Anthropic. The company sized its position in Anthropic at $1.27 billion at the end of April, based on Anthropic's implied valuation at the time of $380 billion.
