Gulou District in Nanjing recently convened a meeting to further advance the development of its "Algorithm District" initiative.
During the event, the "Model Road Artificial Intelligence Innovation Zone" was officially unveiled to the public.
The vision for Model Road, encapsulated by the slogan "One Axis Connecting Three Zones, Three Models Building a Shared Future," is transitioning from blueprint to reality.
This 2.4-kilometer innovation corridor links six key universities, ten industrial parks, and multiple financial institutions along its route, aiming to create a "super ecosystem" for artificial intelligence.
The zone has also introduced a dedicated benefits card, featuring a cut-out design inspired by the silhouette of the Huamao Center, integrating elements of technology and innovation into the fabric of urban daily life.
The "Model Road Artificial Intelligence Innovation Zone Industrial Alliance" was established.
Led by Gulou District, the alliance was jointly initiated by six universities including Southeast University, China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing Tech University, Nanjing University of the Arts, and Jiangsu Open University, along with key industrial parks, financial institutions, and leading industry enterprises.
Its goal is to break down barriers between industry, academia, research, application, and capital.
In March of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and nine other departments jointly issued the "Interim Measures for the Review and Service of Artificial Intelligence Technology Ethics," establishing a framework for AI ethics governance.
Under the guidance of the provincial industry department, the Artificial Intelligence Technology Ethics Review and Service Center has been established in Gulou.
It will focus on algorithm security, model security, and technology ethics governance, providing professional services such as risk assessment, testing, verification, and standard guidance, filling a gap in authoritative third-party services for AI ethics governance in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The Jiangsu Artificial Intelligence Service Center and the Nanjing Gulou Scenario Technology Innovation Development Co., Ltd. were jointly inaugurated.
The event also launched Gulou District's all-age AI literacy enhancement initiative, the "Guyue AI Classroom."
Focusing on curriculum co-development, resource sharing, ecosystem co-construction, and talent cultivation, the program offers "eight major tracks" targeting groups such as seniors, primary and secondary school students, grassroots cadres, and industrial workers, promoting the popularization of AI knowledge in everyday life.
During a project signing ceremony, 15 high-quality projects spanning sectors like intelligent technology, digital governance, cybersecurity, energy conservation, and intelligent robotics were signed in two batches.
The Nanjing Artificial Intelligence Society was officially established.
With the mission of "integrating industry and education, linking scenarios, enriching the ecosystem, and empowering industry," the society aims to build a comprehensive service system featuring "one data foundation plus four functional engines" to provide intellectual support and ecological guarantees for AI industry innovation in Nanjing.
A regional artificial intelligence public technology service platform, jointly developed by Gulou District and Baidu, was also introduced.
The platform includes core products like DuMate and Yijing, aiming to provide efficient and accessible infrastructure support for enterprises and developers.
Since pioneering the "Algorithm District" initiative, Gulou District has consistently focused on the core algorithm sector.
By 2025, the district's software and information technology industry is projected to become a "100-billion-yuan" cluster, with core AI industry revenue exceeding 10 billion yuan, firmly positioning it among the top districts and counties in the province.
The district has gathered over 70 specialized large model and intelligent agent enterprises, with more than 40 vertical large models and over 200 industry-specific intelligent agents covering key fields such as energy and healthcare.
The large model and intelligent agent industry has been recognized as a distinctive and advantageous sector at the provincial county level.
