KINGBOARD HLDG (00148) surged 5.10% during intraday trading on Friday, driven by a combination of surging electronic cloth prices, robust profit guidance, and significant share transfer activities.
The rally comes as industry data cited by Citi showed August average prices for three major electronic cloth series rose 17-18% month-over-month, with year-to-date cumulative gains reaching 118-165%. Strong AI demand has intensified supply tightness in the sector, and major copper-clad laminate (CCL) producers are expected to raise prices by 10-15%. This positive industry backdrop has bolstered investor sentiment toward KINGBOARD HLDG, a key player in the CCL market.
Additionally, the company previously issued a profit alert projecting its H1 net profit to exceed HKD 2.7 billion, with the CCL segment profit surging over 200% year-over-year. The interim results are scheduled for release on August 24. Meanwhile, large share transfers have also drawn market attention, with a repositioning valued at HKD 1.11 billion recorded on August 6, representing 2.21% of total shares, following a separate HKD 1.339 billion transfer on August 4.
