Fuel Prices to Drop Tonight in China

Deep News06-04

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that the domestic refined oil product pricing window will open at 24:00 today. According to monitoring by the NDRC's Price Monitoring Center, international oil prices fluctuated during the latest price adjustment cycle, falling first before rising. Starting from midnight tonight, domestic gasoline and diesel prices will be reduced by 525 yuan and 505 yuan per tonne, respectively. On a national average basis, the prices of 92-octane gasoline, 95-octane gasoline, and 0-grade diesel will decrease by 0.41 yuan, 0.44 yuan, and 0.43 yuan per liter, respectively.

Calculations show that filling a 50-liter tank with 92-octane gasoline will now cost about 20.5 yuan less. Costs for the logistics industry will also see a reduction. For example, a heavy-duty truck traveling 10,000 kilometers per month with a fuel consumption of 38 liters per 100 kilometers will see its fuel costs drop by approximately 763 yuan over the next half-month period.

The evolution of the U.S.-Iran situation is the core factor influencing international oil price trends. During the adjustment cycle, international oil prices, primarily influenced by the evolving U.S.-Iran situation, fell before rebounding, with the average price for this cycle lower than the previous one. The NDRC's Price Monitoring Center analysis indicates that the current U.S.-Iran situation is the key factor determining international oil price movements. Recently, Iran stated it would suspend dialogue with the U.S. and plans to completely block the Strait of Hormuz, while the U.S. claimed an agreement could be reached "within a week." With increased uncertainty surrounding the negotiations, international oil prices are expected to experience amplified volatility in the short term, and subsequent developments warrant close attention.
