The railway department in Xinjiang recently held a product launch event titled "Tianshan Snow Lotus · Silk Road New Journey," announcing plans to operate 100 tourist trains in 2024. The initiative aims to expand the influence of the "Tianshan Snow Lotus" service brand and enrich the multi-level tourism product portfolio, which includes the New Oriental Express, Tianshan trains, and regular tourist trains. This strategy is designed to help travelers explore Xinjiang's scenic beauty by rail.
These tourist trains will operate year-round, breaking geographical and seasonal constraints. In addition to classic routes circling northern and southern Xinjiang, new premium interprovincial lines will be introduced, covering regions such as southwestern China, northeastern China, and Hong Kong and Macao. Regular services are scheduled from March to October. To meet the demand for winter tourism, overnight snow-themed trains, including the "China's Snow Capital—My Altay" service, will continue to operate, providing convenient travel for winter sports enthusiasts.
