From January to October 2025, China's lithium-ion battery exports totaled 3.804 billion units, marking an 18.93% year-on-year increase, while export value surged 26.51% to $62.35 billion, sustaining steady growth momentum.
In October alone, exports hit $6.97 billion (up 24.64% YoY) with 405 million units shipped (up 17.16% YoY). Germany has overtaken the U.S. as China’s top export destination since May 2025, accounting for $11.27 billion (29.23% YoY growth) or 18.1% of total lithium-ion battery exports. The U.S. ranked second at $9.94 billion (down 13.89% YoY, 15.9% share), followed by Vietnam at $3.59 billion (up 16.09% YoY, 5.8% share).
Among the top 10 export markets, Chile, Saudi Arabia, and Australia recorded the highest growth rates.
Guangdong emerged as the largest export hub, contributing $16.48 billion (up 40.52% YoY, 26.4% share) with 1.27 billion units shipped (up 13.62% YoY). Fujian ranked second at $15.13 billion (up 12.81% YoY, 24.3% share), while Jiangsu placed third with $8.06 billion (up 2.59% YoY, 12.9% share). These three provinces collectively accounted for 63.6% of national exports.
Sichuan, Hubei, and Guangxi saw the sharpest export value growth at 364.14%, 132.12%, and 74.98% YoY, respectively. In unit terms, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Shanghai led with increases of 111.45%, 94.12%, and 35.2% YoY.
Sichuan’s Yibin City has developed a comprehensive lithium battery industrial chain, attracting major players like CATL and establishing a closed-loop ecosystem from materials to recycling. This has rapidly boosted production capacity, reflected in export performance.
