How Was This 'Urban Lifeline Network' in Jiaxing Constructed?

Deep News06-03 07:10

A tense alarm sounded yesterday morning over the Nanjiao Station of Jiaxing City Natural Gas Pipeline Network Operation Co., Ltd. This dramatic scene was not an actual emergency but part of the launch ceremony for Jiacity Group's 2026 "Work Safety Month" activities, featuring an emergency drill simulating a third-party construction accident damaging a natural gas pipeline and causing a leak.

As the on-site commander issued orders, various emergency response teams sprang into action, working in coordination. Their actions included pipeline inspection, alarm reporting, establishing security perimeters, evacuating personnel, gas concentration detection, cutting off the gas supply, venting operations, and urgent repairs. The entire sequence was executed smoothly and methodically.

Jiacity Group's Deputy Party Secretary Yu Jianming commented in a summary that the drill was well-organized, with rapid response and proper handling, achieving the intended goals of testing plans, training teams, and enhancing capabilities. He emphasized that safety is a continuous journey and pledged to use this exercise as an opportunity for improvement, strengthening the ability to handle emergencies and truly embedding the principle of "everyone prioritizes safety, everyone is capable of emergency response."

Since its establishment in 2006, the company has focused on developing Jiaxing's natural gas pipeline network, investing in and completing key projects such as the Dejia Line, the city-wide line, the Jiaxing urban natural gas pipeline network, and the Nanjiao-T3 line. Projects like the first phase of the city-wide network improvement, the eastern LNG project, and the Xiuzhou Main Station-T9-T5 project are currently progressing steadily, weaving an increasingly dense "urban lifeline network" to secure energy supply for residents.

The company's Deputy General Manager Lu Jia reported that it has built 181 kilometers of high-pressure pipelines and approximately 1,502 kilometers of medium- and low-pressure pipelines within the urban area, forming a comprehensive, multi-tiered natural gas transmission and distribution backbone network. Supporting infrastructure includes 7 stations, 10 valve chambers, 4 pressure regulation stations, and 1 LNG station, creating a secure and reliable gas supply system with a peak daily supply capacity of 5 million cubic meters. The high-pressure network has maintained a safe operational record of 6,364 consecutive days, cumulatively delivering 12.1 billion cubic meters of pipeline natural gas safely.

Advancing its development, the company is actively promoting the construction of an "intelligent pipeline network." It utilizes remote monitoring and control technologies such as drone inspections and an urban lifeline external damage prevention warning system to comprehensively upgrade pipeline safety management. The innovative "ground + drone" three-dimensional inspection model has completed over 16,000 kilometers of drone patrols, effectively eliminating blind spots and accurately identifying pipeline risks. The scale of the deployed external damage prevention warning system has grown from over 400 units in early 2025 to more than 1,700 units, achieving full network coverage. This system collects real-time location data of construction equipment, shifting the focus of pipeline protection from reactive repairs to proactive defense, and completing the transition from traditional operations to a digital, intelligent model, thereby reinforcing the safety barrier of the city's natural gas network.

Moving forward, the company will use this event as a catalyst to deepen efforts in hazard identification and rectification, comprehensively enhance emergency response capabilities, and employ thorough strategies to safeguard the well-being of countless households.
