Honor CEO Li Jian: AI's Core Purpose is to Augment Human Capability, Not Replace Humans

At the Honor "New Paradigm for the Physical World" forum during the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20, Honor CEO Li Jian expressed his view that the fundamental nature of artificial intelligence is to enhance human abilities, not to act as a substitute for them.

Li Jian outlined a vision for the ultimate scenario of AI augmenting humanity: in the future, an individual will lead a matrix composed of a vast number of intelligent agent devices. This system will transform the collective intelligence from the edge, device, and cloud into limitless individual potential. Regardless of how rapidly a person's intent changes, this intelligent agent matrix can respond instantly and organically reconfigure itself, becoming ubiquitous intelligent service.

Li Jian believes that in the intelligent era, the externalization of desire is "human intent." He emphasized that the sovereignty of intent will always remain with humans, and the direction of product evolution must be determined by people's genuine needs. AI's role is absolutely not to make decisions for users, but rather to help lower the technical barriers of "what can be done," enabling humans to express and realize their intentions more freely.

Li Jian pointed out that AI itself has no inherent good or evil; its behavior is entirely dependent on the definitions of values and rules that humans impart to it. Honor's ultimate goal is to enable every individual to possess a cluster of intelligent partners that grow alongside them. The advent of AI will not strip humans of their ability to think; on the contrary, it will catalyze an unprecedented explosion in human creativity and judgment.
