Alphabet Acquires 3D Image Generation Startup Common Sense Machines

A spokesperson for Alphabet confirmed the company has acquired Common Sense Machines, a startup based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which specializes in developing generative AI models that can transform two-dimensional images into three-dimensional digital assets. The spokesperson indicated the transaction was finalized this week, but did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition. Information from the professional networking platform LinkedIn shows the company has approximately 12 employees. Data reveals that following a $10 million funding round from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, the company's latest valuation reached $15 million. One of the co-CEOs of Common Sense Machines, Tejas Kulkarni, previously worked at Google DeepMind as a research scientist before co-founding the company in 2020.
