On October 19, ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, released its latest ETF trading records, showing continued purchases of AI cloud computing company CoreWeave through both the ARKK and ARKW funds, buying a combined 132,498 shares worth approximately $8.134 million, the largest buy of the day.
At the same time, ARK reduced its holdings in Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR), Shopify (NYSE: SHOP), and biotech company Personalis, selling a combined total of roughly $11.377 million across the three companies.
This rebalancing continues ARK's sustained accumulation of CoreWeave over the past week while also increasing investment in certain emerging biotech firms.
Continued Accumulation of CoreWeave with $8.13 Million Single-Day Purchase
According to the October 19 trading records, ARK purchased a total of 132,498 CoreWeave shares through its flagship Innovation ETF (ARKK) and Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW), with the total transaction value reaching $8.1341 million.
This was ARK's primary buy of the day and extends the trend of continuously increasing its CoreWeave position over the past week.
CoreWeave primarily provides cloud computing infrastructure for AI training and inference, and its stock has experienced significant volatility recently due to rising financing costs for AI data centers and market concerns about returns on capital expenditure.
ARK's continued accumulation during this period indicates it is still expanding its investment exposure to the company.
Reduction in Palantir, Shopify, and Personalis with Combined Sales Exceeding $11.37 Million
On the selling side, ARK's largest single transaction of the day came from biotech company Personalis, selling 284,063 shares through the Genomics ETF (ARKG) for approximately $4.4456 million.
This continues the fund's multi-day trend of reducing its Personalis holdings.
Meanwhile, ARK sold 20,755 shares of e-commerce software company Shopify (NYSE: SHOP) for approximately $3.5184 million, and reduced its position in data analytics and AI software company Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) by 18,349 shares for approximately $3.4135 million.
The combined sales from the three companies totaled roughly $11.377 million, significantly exceeding the scale of the CoreWeave purchase on the same day.
In addition, ARK sold 200 shares of Alibaba through the Fintech ETF (ARKF) for approximately $21,800, and reduced its position in online sports betting operator DraftKings by 500 shares for approximately $9,450.
Increased Holdings in Three Biotech Companies as Portfolio Adjustment Continues
Beyond CoreWeave, ARK also increased its investments in several emerging biotech companies on the same day.
Through ARKG, it purchased 60,269 shares of Iambic Therapeutics for approximately $1.435 million, and added 19,856 shares of Scribe Therapeutics for approximately $398,700.
ARK also bought 4,835 shares of Freenome for approximately $56,800, continuing its accumulation trend over multiple prior trading days.
The combined purchase amount for these three biotech companies totaled approximately $1.8905 million.
From the day's trading activity, ARK continued to increase its holdings in AI infrastructure companies like CoreWeave and select emerging biotech firms, while reducing positions in Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR), Shopify (NYSE: SHOP), and Personalis.
Among these moves, the continued accumulation of CoreWeave is the most notable change in this round of portfolio rebalancing.
