Minsheng Bank's Li Wenshi on Corporate Business: Undergoing a Systemic Overhaul

Deep News03-31

On March 31, Minsheng Bank held its 2025 annual results exchange meeting. Li Wenshi, a vice president of the bank, stated that while market and client demands have been evolving and competition has intensified in recent years, Minsheng Bank has remained unwavering in its commitment to prioritizing customers.

He noted that in recent years, Minsheng Bank has resolutely implemented national strategies, served the real economy, and returned to its fundamental mission. Over the past few years, the bank has not blindly pursued numerical growth but has instead focused on solidifying and reshaping its operational logic, paying greater attention to foundational customer segments, products, services, and management.

Regarding corporate banking, Li Wenshi remarked, "I believe we have undergone a systemic transformation that can be described as a complete overhaul. There have been four major changes: first, a shift in operational culture; second, a change in development orientation; third, an evolution in operational models; and fourth, a transformation in risk philosophy."

First, the shift in operational culture has moved from a self-centered approach to a client-first mindset. The change in development orientation has shifted from scale expansion to prioritizing quality and efficiency. The bank has abandoned its previous extensive growth model and transitioned to a refined development strategy centered on customer value, asset quality, balance between volume and price, profit prioritization, and efficiency. The evolution in operational models has seen the bank move from individual efforts to integrated collaboration, breaking down past departmental barriers under the concept of "One Minsheng." The transformation in risk philosophy has progressed from emphasizing lending over management to balancing benefits and risks, with safety always being the top priority in development.

He emphasized that the adjustments in Minsheng Bank's corporate business are not short-term fixes but long-term restructuring. Some of the bank's initiatives have already yielded significant results, while others are gradually being implemented.
