Exports of Lithium-Ion Batteries from Huangpu Customs Jurisdiction Surge Over 35% in First Five Months

Deep News06-26

Exports of lithium-ion batteries from the jurisdiction of Huangpu Customs reached 10.322 billion yuan from January to May this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 35.05%. Guangdong Yuyang New Energy Co., Ltd. is a national high-tech and specialized "little giant" enterprise focused on the R&D, production, sales, and service of lithium battery energy storage. Its products are widely used in household, commercial, and industrial scenarios and are distributed in over 80 countries and regions globally. The company's self-developed 10 kWh household energy storage battery can continuously provide stable power for a family of four for five hours and is exported to regions including Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

As one of China's "three new" export categories, lithium batteries are classified as Class 9 dangerous goods. Their packaging containers must pass performance inspections and require a packaging usage appraisal from the local customs before export. During customs inspection, issues such as non-standard cargo labeling and incomplete accompanying documents can hinder export procedures. To assist in the compliant and efficient export of new energy batteries, the Dongguan Changan Customs, under Huangpu Customs, has proactively engaged with major lithium battery manufacturers like Yuyang New Energy, implementing facilitative measures including document pre-review, appointment-based inspections, and advance declarations.

Huang Shuen, Deputy Section Chief of the Local Supervision Section at Dongchang Changan Customs, stated, "We rely on the reform of the intelligent supervision business scenario for export lithium battery packaging. Utilizing AI intelligent review technology and a rapid certificate issuance mechanism, we achieve same-day document submission, review, and certificate acquisition for export declarations." A relevant official from Guangdong Yuyang New Energy Co., Ltd. noted that under the intelligent supervision scenario for export lithium battery packaging, the company can directly contact customs once goods are prepared, making shipment timing more flexible and significantly improving export efficiency.

Moving forward, Huangpu Customs will continue to monitor the export trends of new energy battery enterprises. In conjunction with the specific provisions of the "People's Republic of China Hazardous Chemicals Safety Law" effective May 1st, and addressing specific concerns of enterprises such as dangerous goods packaging and labeling, the customs will provide specialized guidance to help companies within its jurisdiction export lithium-ion battery products safely and efficiently.
