CanSino Biologics Inc. announced that China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has formally accepted the company’s supplemental drug application to broaden the indicated age range of its Group ACYW135 Meningococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine (CRM197), marketed as Menhycia®. The proposed label expansion would extend coverage from the current “3 months to 6 years (83 months)” to “3 months to 17 years,” positioning the product for use across the entire pediatric and adolescent population.
Menhycia®, approved for commercialization in December 2021 as China’s first quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), initially covered children aged 3 months to 6 years. The label was first broadened in February 2026 to include all children up to 83 months. According to the company, the vaccine has narrowed the gap with comparable offerings in developed markets and has delivered a steady increase in domestic market share since launch.
CanSino Biologics views the latest regulatory milestone as an opportunity to address unmet demand for high-end meningococcal vaccines among older children and teenagers in China. Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when trading the company’s shares.
