Hanking Gold (03788) saw its share price jump nearly 12% during intraday trading. As of the time of writing, the stock was up 11.84%, trading at HK$3.40, with a turnover of HK$10.24 million.
On the news front, Hanking Gold announced that following the awarding of the EPC and EPCM contracts for the construction of the 5.5 million tonnes per annum processing plant at the Mt Bundy Gold Project to two experienced Australian contractors, Delonix Solutions Projects Pty Ltd and CPC Engineering Pty Ltd, the company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant's construction on August 12, 2026. This marks the official commencement of the project's full-scale construction phase.
During the ceremony, Mr. Andrew Mackay, a member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, spoke on behalf of the Northern Territory Government. He highly commended Hanking Gold's persistence and efforts over the past 12 years on this project. Mr. Mackay noted that the project is a major initiative for the Northern Territory, and the plant under construction will be the largest gold processing facility in the region. Once completed and operational, it is expected to become the second-largest gold mine by annual production in the Northern Territory.
