Market data collected over the past 24 hours reveals a mixed session for China's baijiu sector on August 20, with three of the top 11 liquor products posting gains, seven declining, and one holding steady, as downside pressure clearly dominated trading.
On the upside, Feitian Moutai surged 8 yuan to an average terminal retail price of 1,788 yuan, snapping a three-day losing streak and returning to its second-highest level in nearly a month. Meanwhile, Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd.'s classic Fifth Generation (Pu Wu Ba Dai) climbed 4 yuan to 801 yuan, reclaiming the key 800 yuan psychological level, while the 1618 expression added 3 yuan to 826 yuan, maintaining its flexible trading range.
On the downside, Premium Moutai slipped 4 yuan to 2,478 yuan, extending its recent pullback after a strong prior rally came to an end. Qinghua Fen 20 dipped 1 yuan to 393 yuan, though it remains in elevated territory. Guojiao 1573 fell 4 yuan to 876 yuan, marking a fourth consecutive session of declines. Yanghe Dream of the Blue M6+ dropped sharply by 9 yuan to 609 yuan, signaling a clear correction from recent highs. Gujing Gong Gu 20 retreated 7 yuan to 531 yuan following its earlier surge, entering a phased pullback. Xijiu Junpin eased 2 yuan to 643 yuan, ending a four-day winning streak and moving into a consolidation phase, while Qinghua Lang declined 2 yuan to 711 yuan, halting its four-day advance. Shuijing Jiannanchun remained stable, holding at a monthly high of 406 yuan.
The aggregate terminal retail value of all 11 products continued to slide, with most mid-to-high-end labels entering adjustment phases. Only a handful of leading premium brands demonstrated resilience, indicating that the market's divergence remains unresolved. If one bottle of each of the 11 products were packaged and sold together, the total price would be 10,062 yuan, down 14 yuan from the previous day and hitting a seven-day low.
Daily pricing data is sourced from approximately 200 collection points distributed across major regions nationwide, including designated dealers, social distributors, e-commerce platforms, and retail outlets. The raw sampling reflects actual terminal retail transactions processed over the preceding 24 hours, aiming to provide an objective, scientific, and fully traceable reference for market prices of major baijiu products.
With the official iMoutai platform launching Feitian Moutai at 1,499 yuan per bottle on New Year's Day (later adjusted to 1,539 yuan on March 31 and further to 1,639 yuan on July 18), and Premium Moutai debuting at 2,299 yuan per bottle on January 9 (raised to 2,359 yuan on May 16), this new sales channel has exerted a growing magnetic pull on the average terminal retail prices of both products. The daily price index applies a volume-weighted calculation methodology, incorporating verifiable transaction prices into the final figures for these two labels.
In related industry news, Qinghua Fen 20 and Penfolds BIN 389 recently held a launch event in Hangzhou, unveiling a co-branded twin-pack gift set. The two major domestic and international liquor giants completed licensing agreements, joining forces to break down the long-standing category marketing barriers between baijiu and imported wine. This exclusive collaboration blends Eastern and Western aesthetic design while preserving the original brewing techniques and flavor profiles of both products, creating a novel format that merges light-aroma baijiu with imported wine to suit today's diversified drinking occasions.
Leveraging the brand equity of these prestigious labels and mature distribution networks, the partnership aims to pioneer cross-category cooperation and move beyond conventional liquor market competition. At the industry level, this initiative not only enriches premium gifting and diverse consumption scenarios but also represents a significant step in China's push for international exchange and cultural mutual learning between Chinese and global liquor industries.
