According to people familiar with the matter, Anthropic is in preliminary discussions about leasing up to one gigawatt of computing capacity from Stream Data Centers.
Anthropic has explored directly renting data centers operated by Stream Data Centers, with the facilities potentially housing tensor processing units (TPUs) designed by Broadcom and Google, though they could also deploy Nvidia GPUs or other artificial intelligence chips.
The company has additionally considered the possibility of Google providing a credit guarantee for the project, though it remains unclear which portion of the undertaking Google would back.
