Recently, the 2026 National Defense Education Month central demonstrative event was carried out in Mengqiao Township by Jinping County, as part of a broader initiative to strengthen public awareness of national security.
The activity was jointly organized by the County Party Committee's Publicity Department, the County Party Committee's Political and Legal Affairs Commission, the County People's Court, alongside various stations affiliated with Mengqiao Township, utilizing approaches that brought the campaign directly into local markets and schools under the theme of "Carrying Forward the Great Spirit of the Long March, United in Building a Strong National Defense."
During the sessions, staff members tailored their messaging to the county's multi-ethnic composition and leveraged the township's unique border geography, using accessible language and inspirational stories of border defense and protection to explain key regulations and policies, including the National Defense Law of the People's Republic of China and the National Defense Education Law of the People's Republic of China.
A core focus was placed on educating residents about border governance topics, such as counter-infiltration, counter-smuggling, and counter-illegal immigration, while urging them to consciously safeguard the frontier and actively refrain from participating in any cross-border illegal activities. The outreach also sought to help citizens understand their personal duties regarding national defense responsibilities and encouraged students to proactively gain knowledge in the field of defense security.
Simultaneously, the promotional phase included diverse convenience-oriented services that addressed topics like cybersecurity awareness and everyday legal knowledge, while staff members patiently answered questions from attendees. The down-to-earth, localized interaction made the educational materials more tangible, relatable, and accessible for locals, significantly boosting their enthusiasm for learning about national security and further consolidating grassroots defense awareness among border communities.
