After Giving Back All Earlier Gains Within Three Months, Can Singles' Day Launch a Share Price Turnaround for Giant Biogene (02367)?

Stock News10-14

Thanks to the expectation repair brought by the "June 18 recovery plus the landing of the medical aesthetics matrix," the share price of Giant Biogene (02367) staged a clear upward run between July 10 and July 29 this year, with the stock gaining 23.11% over that period and pushing the share price back above HK$30. Although over the following three months the stock gave back all of its earlier gains under the influence of multiple factors, with the "Singles' Day" event about to kick off, more investors are once again focusing their attention on this Hong Kong-listed medical aesthetics leader.

After surrendering earlier gains, entering a low-level repair phase

According to observations, since July 10 this year, the share price of Giant Biogene has traced an "inverted V" pattern. During the upward phase from July 10 to July 29, the stock displayed a three-stage trend acceleration on the chart. In particular, over the four trading days from July 10 to July 16, the company's share price rose 13.8% cumulatively. Alongside the price increase, Giant Biogene's trading volume on July 10 reached 8.2226 million shares, 1.71 times its prior five-day average volume, and on July 16 volume continued to expand to 9.0327 million shares, showing an overall healthy pattern of rising volume and price together. Although a period of shrinking-volume consolidation occurred from July 17 to July 28, the share price pulled back only modestly during that stretch, fluctuating narrowly between HK$29.00 and HK$29.60; then on July 29, Giant Biogene's share price gapped higher at the open and ultimately closed up 7.27%, hitting an intraday stage high of HK$31.40 that day and completing this three-stage acceleration run.

Within the above period, Giant Biogene not only achieved rising volume and price on the chart, but its technical momentum and trend strength also rose in tandem: while the moving averages formed a perfect bullish alignment, the MACD indicator completed a golden cross below the zero line and then arranged bullishly above it; the ADX indicator climbed from 25 on July 10 all the way to 43.7 on July 29, signaling that during this period the stock's trend strength upgraded from "tradable" to a "strong trend." At the same time, the company's share price basically hugged the upper Bollinger Band during the upward leg, and the Bollinger Band width expanded significantly by 24.6%, showing that during this phase Giant Biogene's share price featured rising volatility accompanying trend acceleration.

However, a sharp short-term rally inevitably brings short-term overheating in the share price. During this upward move in Giant Biogene's stock, the RSI jumped from a neutral 52.8 straight into overbought territory at 82.1, indicating clear short-term overheating; and although the KDJ indicator rose after a low-level golden cross, the J value touched 110 around July 16, the first stage of the volume-driven launch, before retreating, suggesting that at that time there may have been demand for a pullback after high-level dulling. As Giant Biogene's share price reached the end of the acceleration phase of this rally on July 29, the short-term overheating technical signals became the trigger for its pullback.

In addition, regarding industry and company fundamentals, although Giant Biogene's share price had posted considerable gains earlier under the positive catalysts of a sector-wide recovery in medical aesthetics and the June 18 sales report, it is undeniable that the industry-wide problems of "tighter regulation, more rational consumption, and intensified supply competition" have not yet been fundamentally reversed. Combined with high-growth expectations being revised downward in the 26H1 financial report, which triggered periodic fluctuations in market sentiment, Giant Biogene's share price gave back all of its earlier gains over the following three months.

According to observations, driven jointly by technical and fundamental factors, Giant Biogene's share price saw a high-volume decline in mid-August and entered its main downtrend, only beginning to repair after probing a low of HK$22.40 intraday on October 7. By then, the company's share price had fallen as much as 26.58% from its previous high. However, as the "Singles' Day" event approaches, market sentiment has begun to shift from consensus to divergence, with some investors starting to trade on the potential benefits that this second major consumption event after "June 18" could bring to Giant Biogene.

Can Singles' Day once again ignite market sentiment?

Although Giant Biogene's share price remained in a downward range after July 30, it closed up 4.47% on October 9 on heavy volume, with that day's trading volume expanding to 2.5 times the prior five-day average. Even though it fell again the next day, closing down 3.27%, that day's trading volume was still about 2.05 times the prior five-day average. This volume-price signal may be conveying an important message to the market: namely, that low-level divergence in Giant Biogene's current trading may be gradually widening. The important variable driving this phenomenon is the recent "Singles' Day" event.

As mentioned above, among the logics supporting Giant Biogene's share price rise from July 10 to July 29, the recovery in the "June 18" sales report was an important factor. According to the company's disclosed June 18 promotional report: Comfy's online all-channel GMV grew more than 25% year-on-year, while Collgene's full-cycle GMV grew more than 30% year-on-year. According to an analysis in a Huachuang Securities research report, even though affected by the downward revision of results, after comprehensive consideration it still assigned Giant Biogene's 2026 cosmetics business a 15x PE, equivalent to a market value of RMB 29 billion; adding a potential medical aesthetics market value increment of RMB 6 billion, the combined target market value was RMB 35 billion. On this basis, Huachuang Securities at the time gave Giant Biogene a target price of HK$38.01. From a valuation perspective, after more than two months of share price decline, Giant Biogene's PE valuation at that time was only 12.78 times, already below the industry average of 13.73 times, leaving room for possible subsequent share price growth.

Among the highlights of the "Singles' Day" event, investors not only need to watch the sales report data, but also need to pay attention to the Comfy Focus Series S+ grade new product, the Ultra Penetration Stick, launched by Giant Biogene in April this year. This product exceeded RMB 30 million in self-operated GMV in its first week on the market and surpassed RMB 100 million within 100 days of launch, with institutions estimating it would contribute about RMB 200 million in revenue for the full year. The "Singles' Day" sales performance may, to a certain extent, verify whether it can serve as the "strategic relay product" after Giant Biogene's major single product, the collagen stick, and thereby directly determine whether the market believes the company can switch from a "single hit product dependence" logic to a "product matrix-driven" logic.

In addition, expectations of a fundamental inflection point are also driving investors both on and off the sidelines to speculate on Giant Biogene's medium- to long-term outlook. It is understood that with the approval in January of the world's first injectable recombinant collagen and sodium hyaluronate composite solution, the approval in June this year of the world's first cross-linked recombinant type III collagen implant for neck wrinkle filling, and the 753 collagen needle that officially launched in June this year, Giant Biogene currently holds four Class III medical device registration certificates. Whether it can prove to investors in subsequent financial reports that it has moved from a "registration certificate story" into a "commercialization realization period" and opened a second growth curve for its medical aesthetics business will also become an important factor affecting future upward revisions to Giant Biogene's valuation.
