Since the onset of summer this year, Xinjiang has faced widespread and persistent high temperatures, with maximum temperatures in multiple eastern regions exceeding 50°C, and a red alert for high temperatures remaining in effect. The combined surge in electricity demand from air conditioning, agricultural irrigation, and industrial production has sharply increased the pressure to ensure power supply during the peak summer season.
In response to the current power supply situation, the Xinjiang Energy Regulatory Office has adopted a proactive regulatory approach, providing precise oversight and reinforcing the responsibility of power supply companies to secure supply. It requires power supply enterprises to take multiple measures and adopt targeted strategies to strengthen the power supply defense line. First, equipment upgrades and renovations are being implemented, including the replacement, capacity expansion, and split renovation of heavily loaded distribution transformers, to address hardware deficiencies in the distribution network and alleviate peak load pressure at the source.
Second, the operation mode of the power grid is being optimized comprehensively. By leveraging the dispatch platform, the operation mode is dynamically adjusted, and peak electricity demand is transferred across substation areas to prevent long-term full-load or overload operation of distribution equipment. Third, a real-time monitoring and inspection mechanism has been established. For substation areas where load transfer is currently not feasible, round-the-clock infrared temperature measurement and intensified equipment inspections are conducted to monitor equipment operating conditions in real time, quickly addressing various defects and hazards to ensure stable power supply.
Fourth, a rapid response and handling mechanism for the 12398 energy supervision hotline has been established to efficiently address public concerns and safeguard the bottom line of electricity supply for people's livelihoods.
