Horizon Invests in Ka'er Dynamics to Accelerate Mass Adoption of Autonomous Freight Trucking

Stock News03-02

Ka'er Dynamics recently announced the completion of a Series B funding round exceeding $100 million. This round was co-led by Horizon Robotics and Gaorong Ventures, with significant participation from Hongqi Capital, Fengshang Capital, Dongfang Jiafu, and other investors, alongside oversubscription from certain existing shareholders. The raised capital will primarily be used to accelerate the large-scale expansion of autonomous operations in long-haul freight transport. The company aims to build a smart transportation system combining "transport robots and a logistics operating system," thereby creating an intelligent freight network with extensive coverage. According to the company's plan, it expects to deploy and activate a thousand autonomous trucks within the year and achieve a fleet of ten thousand Robotrucks in the coming years.

As the first company in the industry to achieve a closed-loop commercial operation for unmanned long-haul freight, Ka'er Dynamics has successfully validated the entire chain from technology to business. It has established the first profitable model for unmanned long-haul transportation through closed-loop operations, positioning itself firmly in the top tier of the industry's commercialization progress. The company has accumulated a total freight volume of 12 billion ton-kilometers, operates a fleet of over 400 autonomous trucks, and has logged more than 35 million kilometers in total distance traveled.

Through this investment, Horizon Robotics directly enters the core of the high-growth autonomous long-haul freight market, extending its reach from passenger vehicle intelligent driving to Level 4 autonomous driving scenarios and securing a strategic market position. This partnership represents a powerful alliance aimed at accelerating the mass adoption of autonomous driving in long-haul logistics.

Previously, Horizon and Ka'er Dynamics had established a strategic collaboration based on the Journey 6P computing platform. The two companies will continue to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of the L4 freight autonomous driving system through the effective integration of scenarios, data, and computing platforms, jointly exploring this trillion-yuan market to develop unmanned freight solutions that meet the needs of China's logistics industry and are scalable and profitable. This investment in Ka'er Dynamics marks a further deepening of their cooperation.

Horizon's investment team stated, "We firmly believe in the long-term value of autonomous driving in reshaping the trillion-yuan long-haul logistics market. Ka'er Dynamics has demonstrated both technical feasibility and commercial viability through its advanced technology architecture and innovative business model. This investment represents a strong alliance within the industrial ecosystem, and we will continue to support Ka'er Dynamics in accelerating the mass adoption of autonomous driving for long-haul logistics."

Horizon Robotics specializes in advanced driver-assistance system solutions for passenger vehicles, integrating leading algorithms, dedicated software, and advanced processing hardware to provide core technologies for automotive intelligence. This includes full-scenario ADAS software algorithms, automotive-grade domain controllers, and supporting hardware, completing system integration and mass-production validation to enhance safety and experience for drivers and passengers.

Simultaneously, Horizon is expanding into diverse scenarios through ecosystem partners, moving from Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems to Level 4 autonomous driving. The deepened cooperation with Ka'er Dynamics exemplifies this strategy. Beyond Ka'er Dynamics, Horizon has also partnered with companies like Xing Shen Intelligence to extend its ecosystem boundaries to Robotaxi, long-haul logistics, unmanned delivery vehicles, and other areas. Leveraging its scalable Journey series computing platforms and open ecosystem, Horizon adheres to a progressive path to efficiently and steadily advance the autonomous driving industry toward its ultimate goal.

Currently, Horizon collaborates with over 200 upstream and downstream partners, covering the entire mass-production chain. Industry analysis indicates that autonomous long-haul driving is approaching a commercial inflection point and is expected to enter a phase of large-scale adoption within the next one to two years. As the main artery for intelligent trucking on major corridors, long-haul freight handles over 70% of China's cross-regional goods flow, making it the largest trillion-yuan track in the autonomous driving field.

With its forward-looking ecosystem strategy and scalable computing solutions, Horizon is extending its mature experience from Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems to Level 4 long-haul logistics scenarios, seizing a first-mover advantage in this new trillion-yuan market. In the future, Horizon will continue to open its underlying capabilities and collaborate with more partners to promote the development and widespread adoption of intelligent driving.
