Since the start of this year, the State Grid Yangzhou Power Supply Company has been actively implementing its "Warm Current" initiative, a set of ten practical actions designed for the people, with a strong focus on comprehensive village-wide solar development. In the early autumn, in Yanjiang Village, Xincheng Town, Yizheng City, Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, rows of blue photovoltaic panels are neatly arranged on rural rooftops, gleaming brilliantly under the sun. At the village's solar carport, vehicles line up at the charging piles, while the microgrid equipment and intelligent control screens operate in real time.
Xiao Fang, a resident of Yanjiang Village, shared her positive experience. "The tiles on my roof were damaged before and it used to leak constantly. When the power company came to inspect, they took care of the repairs while installing the solar panels. I received a subsidy of over 30,000 yuan at once, and I'm very satisfied." Hu Jiasheng, a member of the Yanjiang Village committee, added, "Our village has established the country's first energy cooperative. Villagers contribute their rooftops as shares and can enjoy dividends without spending a single penny." Currently, 145 households in Yanjiang Village have installed solar panels, with total upfront development fees exceeding 1 million yuan.
Diao Yu, an employee of the State Grid Yangzhou Power Supply Company, explained the technological advancements. "To ensure more stable electricity for the residents, we have built the province's first multi-substation mutual-aid microgrid. In the event of an external grid failure, we can complete the switchover in just 40 to 60 milliseconds, ensuring absolutely no disruption to the villagers' electricity usage."
In July of this year, the Jiangsu Province Distributed Photovoltaic Development Implementation Plan (2026-2030) was released, encouraging village-wide, contiguous development. It mandates the creation of tailored grid connection plans for each village and establishes a revenue-sharing mechanism where "businesses secure projects, farmers receive rent, and village collectives gain income." Zhou Weizhong, the first secretary stationed in Yanjiang Village, elaborated on the long-term commitment. "The solar project isn't just about getting the systems installed. Our service team will stay on top of the subsequent grid connection, commissioning, operations and maintenance, as well as the electricity bill settlements. We are dedicated to steadily delivering the benefits of new energy to more villagers." From rooftops generating wealth for the people, rural vitalization is indeed forging a path toward the future.
