Exclusive | Leadership Reshuffle at Xishanju: Guo Weiwei Steps Down as CEO, Zou Tao Appointed Acting CEO

Deep News12-01

On December 1, Xishanju announced via an internal letter that its Board of Directors received the resignation of CEO Guo Weiwei, citing personal career planning as the reason for his departure.

The letter stated that after deliberation by Xishanju’s Board and approval by KINGSOFT’s Board, Guo Weiwei’s resignation as CEO has been accepted. He will retain his role as Chief Producer of Xishanju, reporting directly to Zou Tao, who has been appointed Acting CEO. Zou Tao currently serves as CEO of KINGSOFT and Chairman of Xishanju.

The gaming industry is currently navigating a phase of both opportunities and challenges, according to the internal communication. On one hand, players’ demand for high-quality content continues to rise, with cross-platform expansion and cultural exports emerging as new growth drivers. On the other hand, intensifying market competition and increasing expectations for product innovation and user experience present critical challenges for Xishanju’s future development.

With three decades of industry experience, Xishanju remains committed to its founding vision of becoming "a sanctuary for gamers." The company emphasized its focus on core business strengths, leveraging its IP portfolio, technological expertise, and strategic resources to enhance product quality and innovate gaming experiences.

The letter concluded by thanking employees for their dedication and expressing optimism about the company’s next chapter.

No official response has been provided regarding the leadership transition at the time of reporting.
