From May 15 to May 17, the "Eighteenth Xuanyuan Automotive Blue Book Forum" was held in Guangzhou under the theme "Turning Point." In his speech, Wei Haigang, General Manager of GAC International, stated that GAC Group only began to truly plan its overseas expansion efforts in 2013, with GAC International officially established in 2022. This means that in just a few years, the company has entered an accelerated development phase on its internationalization path.
GAC Group's overseas expansion pace is formulated based on its own actual conditions. The company aims to thoroughly and effectively implement all aspects of overseas work, including products, channels, branding, localization, services, and ecosystem development.
Specifically, the company will conduct comprehensive analysis and insights into each market planned for future expansion, focusing on five key global markets: Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Latin America. Tailored strategies will be developed to advance overseas efforts according to the distinct characteristics and demands of these five markets. The company will also quickly learn from the experiences of other enterprises in overseas expansion to address its own shortcomings in this field, gradually achieving a transition from "going out" to "going in," and then to "going up."
Currently, the company's overseas efforts are accelerating from product and brand expansion to industrial expansion. To date, it has established five KD factories and nine parts warehouses globally, with operations covering 102 countries and 696 retail outlets. In recent years, the company has accelerated its efforts in these areas.
Additionally, in terms of ecosystem development, taking the Thai market as an example, the company not only focuses on product deployment but also emphasizes service and ecosystem layout to build its own brand characteristics. This approach aims to create value, serve the local market, and ultimately achieve reasonable sales growth.
"Although we have set high development goals for ourselves, compared to leading domestic automakers, we are still in the third tier. We believe GAC Group has significant room for growth in overseas expansion and hope to collaborate with partners in the future to jointly embrace the growth and challenges in this journey," he said.
