On the afternoon of January 25, at the YY 2025 Annual Peak Ceremony, Baidu's YY launched the "Xiongli·Juxing Plan."
The "Xiongli·Juxing Plan" is designed to discover and cultivate promising new stars for short dramas, infusing fresh talent into the industry. This initiative is introduced by Xiongli Juliang, the artist agency under Baidu's YY, with Liu Tianchi, a teacher from the Performance Department of the Central Academy of Drama, and her team serving as artistic advisors throughout the process. The two parties will collaborate on a multi-month process involving online recruitment, open auditions, competitive performances, and an offline final selection.
The selection for the "Xiongli·Juxing Plan" will be open to candidates nationwide who have a passion for performance and are suited for short drama roles. The selection criteria will focus not only on external appearance and foundational acting skills but also emphasize an actor's understanding of short drama pacing, emotional expression, and character development. Recruitment for the event begins on January 24, with no barriers to entry, allowing both professionally trained actors and grassroots talents to participate.
YY CEO Li Le stated that throughout 2025, Baidu's YY short drama business has begun to establish a market presence, gaining some reputation and achieving initial success. Moving forward, the short drama and artist agency businesses will develop towards greater specialization, scale, and customization, collaborating with more industry partners to expand and strengthen the ecosystem.
According to official information, throughout the full year of 2025, Baidu's YY produced nearly 200 short dramas, achieving a total of 860 million plays and significant topic engagement. Its subsidiary agency, Xiongli Juliang, has signed and manages over 60 artists.
