On October 11, a China-Europe freight train loaded with electronic products, mechanical and electrical equipment, daily consumer goods and other cargo departed from Khorgos Railway Port, heading to Mala Szewicze, Poland. This marked the cumulative breakthrough of 50,000 China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains passing through Khorgos Railway Port.
Since the first China-Europe freight train departed in March 2016, the number of trains passing through Khorgos Railway Port has grown steadily. The cumulative total increased from zero to 10,000 trains in 54 months, from 10,000 to 20,000 trains in 18 months, from 20,000 to 30,000 trains in less than 16 months, from 30,000 to 40,000 trains in 14 months, and from 40,000 to 50,000 trains in less than 13 months.
The number of China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains passing through Khorgos Railway Port continues to grow, with the port completing the transfer of one incoming return China-Europe freight train on average every 2 hours, maintaining a daily average of more than 27 trains. An increasing number of "Made in China" products including daily consumer goods, mechanical and electrical equipment, electronic products, and agricultural and sideline products are choosing to reach Central Asian and European markets through Xinjiang's railway ports.
Since Khorgos Customs launched the "Smart Railway Port + Local Rapid Clearance" reform in May this year, railway operations have achieved breakthrough improvements in clearance efficiency. The transit time for imported goods at the port has been reduced from 2-3 days to within 16 hours, a decrease of 70%. The processing time for local export goods has been compressed from 6 hours to 1 hour, a reduction of 80%.
Zhang Kun, Deputy Section Chief of Supervision Section III at Khorgos Customs, stated: "We provide '7×24 hours' clearance services, establish dedicated service windows for China-Europe freight trains, formulate personalized services according to cargo owners' needs, establish a 'priority grouping + rapid inspection and release' green channel, and efficiently coordinate train clearance review, priority inspection, transfer and release processes to continuously improve train transportation efficiency."
