The U.S. trade deficit expanded at a slower rate than anticipated in February, with both imports and exports recording growth.
Data released by the U.S. Commerce Department on Thursday showed the goods and services trade deficit increased by 4.9% from the previous month to $57.3 billion. The median forecast from economists surveyed by institutions had predicted a deficit nearing $61 billion.
Exports rose by 4.2% in February, while imports grew by 4.3%.
