Chang-Shen Expressway Expansion Project from Dagao to Pengjia Hub Officially Commences

The expansion project of the Chang-Shen Expressway section from Dagao to Pengjia Hub, invested and constructed by Shandong High-Speed Group, has officially commenced, marking a significant step forward for this major transportation infrastructure initiative.

Spanning 51.06 kilometers, the project starts approximately 2.6 kilometers north of the Dagao Interchange on the Chang-Shen Expressway, passing through Zhanhua District, Yangxin County, and Bincheng District in Binzhou City, as well as Gaoqing County in Zibo City, before terminating at the Pengjia Hub Interchange, which connects to the Bin-Tai and Ji-Gao Expressways. As a critical segment of Shandong Province’s "12 Vertical, 8 Horizontal, and 11 Radial" expressway network, this expansion is pivotal for optimizing traffic efficiency, enhancing public travel experience, and promoting regional development.

The existing four-lane expressway has struggled to accommodate the growing annual traffic volume, prompting the upgrade to an eight-lane expressway with a design speed of 120 km/h. The expansion primarily adopts a "side-widening approach," supplemented by localized single-side separation where necessary. The project will also modernize traffic safety facilities, service amenities, and intelligent transportation systems to create a "safe, convenient, efficient, and green" expressway.

A key highlight of the project is the Yellow River Super Bridge, which will employ a parallel construction method combining old and new bridges, incorporating advanced technologies to ensure quality. The main span will utilize a self-developed crawler-type pushing system by Shandong High-Speed Group. Additionally, the project features a "smart beam yard" leveraging digital twin technology for full-process digital tracking and intelligent scheduling, supported by automated equipment such as intelligent steel processing, hydraulic formwork, and automated curing systems.

Moving forward, the project will focus on resource integration, scientific planning, and stringent quality and safety controls to achieve its goal of becoming a century-quality demonstration project, further strengthening the "Shan Gao·Xing" brand and contributing to Shandong’s role as a national transportation hub.
