CHALCO Shares Surge Over 6% on Inclusion in Hang Seng Index and Guinea Bauxite Supply Concerns

CHALCO (02600) rose more than 6%. At the time of writing, the stock was up 6.44% to HKD 11.57, with a turnover of HKD 381 million.

On the news front, the quarterly review results for the Hang Seng Index Series were announced on May 22. All changes will take effect after market close on June 5, 2026, and will be implemented starting June 8, 2026. Among these changes, CHALCO will be included as a constituent of the Hang Seng Index.

Furthermore, Guinea, the world's largest producer of bauxite, plans to announce reform measures in June to control the export of this ore in an effort to boost prices. Guinea accounts for over one-third of global bauxite production. Influenced by this sudden news from Guinea, alumina futures surged by more than 4%.
