Country's EV Charging Infrastructure Reaches 23.057 Million Units by June 2026

The National Energy Administration disclosed on July 28, via its official WeChat account, statistical data on the nation's electric vehicle charging facilities for the first half of 2026.

Based on data from the National Charging Facility Monitoring and Service Platform, as of the end of June 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (charging guns) had reached 23.057 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of 43.2%.

Within this total, there were 5.009 million public charging facilities, up 22.3% year-on-year, with a total rated power of 247 million kilowatts and an average power per gun of approximately 49.35 kilowatts. Private charging facilities numbered 18.048 million units, a 50.4% increase year-on-year, with a total reported electricity capacity of 155 million kilovolt-amperes.

Rapid Network Expansion and Enhanced Service Capability

During the first half of this year, the electric vehicle charging network expanded rapidly, leading to a significant improvement in service capabilities.

Holiday Charging Demand Shows Steady Growth

Taking the May Day holiday period as an example, the total number of charging sessions on national highways reached 3.9784 million, with a total charging volume of 94.9314 million kilowatt-hours. The average daily charging volume was 18.9863 million kilowatt-hours, an increase of 14.09% compared to the Spring Festival period, setting a new record high. This data indicates that the charging needs for holiday travel have been effectively met.

High-Power Infrastructure Construction Achieves Notable Results

As of the end of June 2026, over 180,000 high-power charging guns have been constructed nationwide. The development of a high-power charging infrastructure system, characterized by a rational layout and advanced technology, is accelerating.

County and Township Charging Network Layout is Strengthened

By the end of June 2026, the coverage rate of charging facilities in county-level areas had risen to 98.61%. The process of weaving a denser charging network in counties and townships is accelerating, steadily enhancing the capacity of charging service provision in these areas.
