At 22:33 on October 22, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Baingoin County, Nagqu City, Tibet. At the resettlement site in Zharuogai Village, Marru Township, Baingoin County, located above 4,500 meters in elevation, kind-hearted people from various places set up stoves and provided hot meals to rescue workers and quake-affected residents.
On the night of the earthquake, Du Guoping, owner of "Old Du's Dumpling House," postponed the opening of his new branch in Shigatse and departed from Shigatse City carrying over 3,000 jin of dumplings, arriving at the disaster area the following afternoon. He saved the dumplings for everyone else while eating instant noodles and sleeping in his vehicle. Gesang Nima, who traveled from Nagqu City, cooked Tibetan noodles and made sweet tea so people could enjoy a warm, familiar taste.
Ali Mijiang Halike, a Xinjiang philanthropist who assisted in last year's Tingri earthquake relief efforts, specifically flew from Xi'an to Urumqi to retrieve two pressure cookers, prepared Xinjiang hand-grabbed rice on the plateau, and also brought about 1,000 naan breads to distribute among children and villagers. Zhe Jiaxin, a young woman from Xinjiang, took nearly 48 hours to arrive, using 68 kilograms of rice noodle sauce she brought and rice noodles provided by Abudu, who runs a Xinjiang restaurant in Lhasa, to make Xinjiang stir-fried rice noodles.
Dumplings, Tibetan noodles, sweet tea, hand-grabbed rice, stir-fried rice noodles... Flavors from all corners of the country converge in the disaster area, warming both stomachs and hearts. As Ali Mijiang Halike put it: "From one good person to a group of good people."
