Recent online rumors suggesting Tesla Vice President Tao Lin announced the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system would launch in China on May 1st have been refuted by Tesla customer service. The company's support team clarified that the circulating screenshot is inaccurate and stated there is currently no related information available, advising the public to await official announcements from Tesla.
The widely shared screenshot claimed that Tesla's FSD supervised intelligent driver-assistance system would officially become available in China starting at midnight on May 1st. It purported that all eligible vehicle owners would be granted a three-month trial period, after which a monthly subscription fee of 699 yuan would apply.
However, verification shows the alleged announcement was not found on Tao Lin's verified social media account. Furthermore, the account avatar in the screenshot did not match her official profile picture.
According to a Bloomberg report, Tesla has again postponed the launch of its advanced driver-assistance features in China. Company executives indicated during a recent earnings call that Full Self-Driving technology still lacks broader regulatory approval in the Chinese market. Tesla added that approval for FSD in China is now anticipated during the third quarter.
