CITIC's Wang Guoquan: Rock-Solid Project Serves as Core Engine for Building a Virtuous Cycle of Technology, Industry, and Finance

On March 27, CITIC held its 2025 performance briefing. Wang Guoquan, Vice Chairman and General Manager, stated that the Rock-Solid Project is a strategic initiative designed to seize the historic opportunities presented by the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. It aims to enhance the overall efficiency of the innovation system, secure technological leadership, and create new competitive advantages for the group. Wang emphasized that the project acts as a core engine for establishing a virtuous cycle connecting technology, industry, and finance.

Wang pointed out that CITIC is integrating its unique strengths—diverse business lines, rich application scenarios, and massive data resources—with artificial intelligence to drive the implementation of AI-enabled centers.

Regarding future plans, Wang indicated that the company has incorporated the Rock-Solid Technology Project into its new "335 Strategy." Efforts will focus on building highlands for technological innovation and sources of original technology, with an emphasis on advancing "three integrations": first, deepening industrial integration by using technological innovation to lead industrial innovation, targeting key areas for industrial chain transformation, and increasing investment in major new R&D projects; second, deepening capital integration by exploring methods such as industrial mergers and acquisitions and partnerships to strengthen innovation advantages in areas like advanced materials, biological breeding, high-end equipment, and fintech, creating a CITIC model that combines independent innovation with investment empowerment; and third, deepening intelligent ecosystem integration by accelerating the construction of the "2+4+N" technology innovation cluster, aiming for full operation of nine platforms by 2026. At the same time, the company will adopt an open approach to R&D, deepen industry-university-research collaboration, integrate into international and regional technology innovation hubs, and build innovation consortia that share resources and risks.

Wang stated that CITIC will use the Rock-Solid Technology Project as a lever, relying on its distinctive technological innovation system to effectively promote industrial transformation, upgrade cost efficiency, and ensure that technological and industrial innovations take root.
