January 21st marked the 15th anniversary of WeChat, which was officially launched on the same date in 2011. In a commemorative article, Tencent provided an explanation for the WeChat startup page image, describing it as depicting the first time humans saw the full view of Earth from space, symbolizing loneliness and imagination.

Additionally, Tencent showcased several WeChat features, stating that a video call will automatically connect when both parties press the call button simultaneously. The platform's voice calls can also automatically switch modes.

The company also clarified that the vintage emojis within WeChat have not been removed; users can try switching to the English symbol input mode to access them.
