HoneyB, a platform dedicated to generating yield from Bitcoin, has completed a $5 million seed funding round, a move that lets its parent company Nectar Group establish an early market position in the Bitcoin yield sector.
Following the completion of this funding, HoneyB has been valued at $30 million.
The project's core business model involves using BTC as collateral to borrow stablecoins, which are then invested in various financial products, delivering users an annualized return of 2% to 4%.
Structurally, this yield logic relies on the spread between the high returns of underlying assets and borrowing costs. The expected annualized yield of the base investment products is roughly 10%, and HoneyB aims to convert the remaining profit margin into actual user returns after deducting borrowing costs and various fees.
It is worth noting that the actual yield level is not fixed, but fluctuates dynamically based on investment performance, borrowing costs, and asset collateralization ratios. This model essentially brings the leveraged arbitrage strategies of traditional finance into an on-chain environment, maximizing passive income for BTC holders through optimized asset allocation.
The round was led by Portal Ventures, with participation from Peer Venture Partners, Anchorage Digital Ventures, as well as several private family offices and individual investors.
The financing adopted a combination of a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) and token warrants. This hybrid structure not only meets the risk preferences of early investors but also leaves room for future token economic models.
Josh Gordon, co-founder and CEO of Nectar Group, explained that the mechanism allows Bitcoin holders to borrow stablecoins using their own assets as collateral, then invest those stablecoins in U.S. Treasuries, bonds, credit products, gold, and various volatility management and options strategies.
On the technical infrastructure side, the Bitcoin collateral portion can be managed through on-chain smart contracts or through a tripartite agreement involving borrowers, lenders, and custodians. Anchorage Digital and BitGo (BTGO.US) provide custody services, while the platform also leverages infrastructure such as Ethereum, Sui Network, Solana, and Ark Network to ensure the security and efficiency of fund flows.
According to data compiled by Woofun AI, the integration of this multi-chain infrastructure is designed to reduce risk exposure on any single chain while improving capital utilization.
In terms of specific investment strategies, the first strategy will utilize a diversified investment fund of approximately $13.5 billion managed by Simpleify Asset Management. Alpha Ledger is responsible for the management and tokenization of the fund, while Ambler Capital SPC handles the issuance of related investment products. This clearly divided partnership model helps combine the professional capabilities of traditional asset management with the transparency of blockchain technology.
HoneyB plans to launch products for institutional investors in the fourth quarter of 2026, and to provide services to individual investors in 2027. Gordon mentioned Bitwise, Lombard, Solve, and Centora as competitors in the field.
HoneyB aims to integrate custody, lending, and investment functions onto a single platform while allowing institutional partners to offer related services under their own brands. This white-label model not only expands the potential market reach but also enhances the platform's appeal to institutional clients.
By providing a one-stop solution, HoneyB seeks to stand out in the highly competitive Bitcoin yield market and offer investors a more convenient and efficient way to earn returns.
Nectar Group will use the raised funds for product development, building custody and financial infrastructure, ensuring compliance, and expanding sales channels. The company was founded in October 2025 and currently has more than 12 employees.
From a development trend perspective, with the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs and the influx of institutional investors, demand in the Bitcoin yield market is growing rapidly. HoneyB's successful fundraising indicates that the market is optimistic about platforms that can safely and efficiently use Bitcoin to generate yield.
However, the model also faces challenges from regulatory uncertainty and market volatility. How to achieve stable returns while ensuring the safety of funds will be key to HoneyB's future development. This is another noteworthy industry development following the rise of multiple Bitcoin lending platforms, and its subsequent performance will directly affect the development landscape of the entire Bitcoin yield ecosystem.
