Fujian Xianyou Zhongshan Rice Selected for 2025 Third Batch National Specialty, Distinctive, High-quality, and Novel Agricultural Products Catalogue

Deep News01-14

Recently, the Agricultural Product Quality Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the 2025 third batch National Specialty, Distinctive, High-quality, and Novel Agricultural Products Catalogue. Among the selections, Fujian Xianyou Zhongshan Rice was included in this prestigious list.

Zhongshan Town is located in the northeastern mountainous area of Xianyou County, Fujian Province, with an average altitude of 648 meters and an annual average temperature of 18.4°C. The terrain is notably flat, earning it the moniker "Little Plain of the Mountains." The town's total cultivated land area is approximately 24,000 mu, with rice planting covering 15,700 mu.

In recent years, the town has vigorously developed its modern agricultural industry, actively encouraging major grain growers to consolidate land for large-scale cultivation. By employing technologies such as mechanical transplanting, seedling throwing, unified prevention and control of pests and diseases, and mechanical harvesting, the town has largely achieved scale, mechanization, and socialized services in its rice industry.

Simultaneously, Zhongshan Town places a strong emphasis on rice quality management, actively promoting the "One Product, One Code" traceability system for agricultural products to strictly control quality. This effort includes the creation of a 10,000-mu high-quality rice industrial park.

National Specialty, Distinctive, High-quality, and Novel Agricultural Products are defined as those produced in specific regions, possessing a certain scale of production and commercial output, exhibiting significant geographical characteristics and unique nutritional qualities, having stable supply and consumer markets, high public recognition and reputation, and which are officially registered, announced, and certified by the Agricultural Product Quality Safety Center.

In recent years, Fujian Province has focused on developing its "local specialty products" sector. By leveraging its unique agricultural and rural resources, the province has fully explored and promoted local distinctive, green, and high-quality agricultural products, actively working to include them in this national catalogue.
