Central Media Spotlight on Laibin's Tech-Driven Spring Farming Initiatives

Deep News03-25

Recent reports from central media outlets have highlighted the spring farming activities in Laibin, Guangxi. The city has leveraged the "DiDi Nongji" (DiDi Farm Machinery) platform to enable precise matching between farmers and machinery operators, injecting strong technological momentum into spring agricultural production.

Titled "Guangxi Laibin: 'Online Booking' Farm Machinery Boosts Sugarcane Spring Planting," coverage notes that during the spring farming season, the use of online-platform-based farm machinery has made sugarcane cultivation more efficient and convenient. Since 2025, through the "DiDi Nongji" platform developed in Guangxi, farmers and machinery operators can easily post demand for agricultural work or search for job opportunities, achieving two-way supply-demand matching. For sugarcane growers, finding machinery has become as simple as hailing a ride online.

On March 24, People's Weekly website reported on the topic. Another article, "Guangxi 'DiDi Nongji' Empowers Spring Farming Preparation On-Site Meeting Held in Laibin," covered a recent event in Xingbin District, Laibin City, held under the theme of "improving quality, ensuring production, protecting farmers, and increasing benefits." The event aimed to strengthen machinery quality safeguards, protect farmers' rights, and showcase the innovative "internet + farm machinery" model, bringing technological empowerment to Guangxi's spring farming efforts.

Following the launch of the event, the Bayi Square in Fenghuang Town, Xingbin District, became a showcase for agricultural technology and a frontline station for rights protection services. In the machinery quality demonstration area, farmers and operators gathered to learn how to distinguish certified machinery from counterfeit products. Staff provided easy-to-understand explanations and distributed illustrated guides on warranty policies and platform usage manuals.

In the machinery exhibition zone, dozens of modern agricultural machines—including planters, small and medium-sized tractors, drones, and micro-tillers suitable for hilly terrain—were displayed, attracting widespread attention. Many farmers eagerly climbed into the driver’s seats to experience the advanced equipment up close.

After the interactive science popularization activities, participants visited the Guangrong Agricultural Machinery Service Cooperative in Sanwu Town, Xingbin District, to witness how technology is enhancing spring farming. A cooperative member, Huang Shaoyan, demonstrated the platform's mobile app and shared that finding work has become as easy as booking a ride. She noted that since joining the platform, the cooperative has expanded its service range, improved operational efficiency, and increased earnings for machinery operators.

Another operator, Huang Zhong, demonstrated how to accept orders via the platform and shared his transition from searching for work manually to receiving assignments online. He remarked that in the past, busy seasons meant exhausting legwork, but now jobs come with a tap on the phone.

A safety training session was also held at the cooperative, covering equipment maintenance, safe operation practices, accident prevention, and emergency response procedures.

After the training, attendees observed spring farming operations at the Laibin Guangrong Sugarcane Seed Breeding Base. Through coordinated scheduling via the "DiDi Nongji" platform, a range of advanced, smart, and eco-friendly machinery—including integrated sugarcane planters, tractors, and unmanned sprayer drones—operated efficiently in the fields, creating a lively scene of modern agricultural production.

On the same day, an inspection team composed of officials from the Autonomous Region Agricultural Machinery Center and Laibin market regulatory and machinery authorities conducted a special campaign targeting agricultural machinery sales enterprises in Xingbin District. The team verified business licenses, subsidy-eligible equipment quality, sales records, and system data to ensure proper implementation of national agricultural support policies and prevent subsidy fraud.

This spring, Guangxi has actively promoted the "DiDi Nongji" platform, making farming as convenient as ride-hailing. Technicians from agricultural machinery departments have been working in the fields, guiding farmers to use the platform to schedule services such as seedling cultivation, land preparation, planting, and sugarcane farming. This approach has helped bridge the last-mile gap in machinery services, enabling efficient "iron buffaloes" to operate via cloud technology.

As of March 20, a total of 830,000 agricultural machines have been deployed in Guangxi, cultivating 24.89 million mu of farmland. The platform has registered 7,450 users. Additionally, 22,000 officials and technicians have been dispatched to rural areas, providing training to 9,000 machinery operators and repair technicians, and maintaining 400,000 sets of agricultural equipment, effectively supporting spring farming demands across the region.
