Deep News11-25

On November 21, the third 62,000-DWT ultramax multipurpose vessel, named "Ming Jian," was officially christened and delivered in Yizheng, Jiangsu. Built by Jinling Shipyard under China Merchants Industry for China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., this vessel is the third in a series of four contracted in 2023.

Designed as a new-generation energy-efficient and environmentally friendly ship, the series was developed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) and classified by China Classification Society (CCS). The vessel measures 199.9 meters in length, 32.26 meters in beam, and 19.0 meters in depth, with a design speed of 14.4 knots.

Featuring a CFD-optimized hull design, the ship includes five cargo holds and is equipped with four cranes on the port side, capable of a combined maximum lifting capacity of 300 tons. It incorporates energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies such as a large-diameter propeller propulsion system, complying with the EEDI Phase 3 international standards.

Additionally, the vessel is installed with an energy efficiency management system developed by China Merchants Industry and will later integrate the IMP management system, a pioneering solution by China Merchants Energy Shipping, making it one of the most advanced green and cost-effective heavy-lift multipurpose vessels available.
