GigaDevice Semiconductor Inc. (603986.SH), a leader in the A-share memory chip sector, disclosed its top 10 shareholders and top 10 unrestricted shareholders as of July 31, 2026, in a post-market announcement on August 6. The filing, part of a share buyback process, showed that famous retail investor Ge Weidong increased his position in the company during a period of significant price volatility.
As of July 31, Ge Weidong held 16.4467 million shares of GigaDevice, representing 2.34% of the total shares and ranking as the company's fourth-largest shareholder. This marks an increase of 185,100 shares compared to the 16.2616 million shares he held at the end of the first quarter of 2026. Meanwhile, Ge Weidong's wife, Wang Ping, held 8.5999 million shares as of July 31, up by 1.0267 million shares from her 7.5732 million shares at the end of the first quarter, securing her position as the sixth-largest shareholder.
Based on GigaDevice's closing price of 385 yuan per share on August 6, Ge Weidong's stake in the company is valued at approximately 6.332 billion yuan, while Wang Ping's stake is worth about 3.311 billion yuan, bringing their combined holdings to nearly 100 billion yuan.
The stock experienced extreme volatility in the second quarter and July of this year. After a sharp rise, its price surged more than 200% from its lowest point, only to plummet. The current price of 385 yuan per share represents a decline of over 50% from the all-time high of 846.66 yuan set in late June.
GigaDevice has been a long-term holding for Ge Weidong. Despite the stock's dramatic price swings over the past seven years—reaching a high of 230 yuan (adjusted for stock splits) in mid-2021 and falling to about 55 yuan in early 2024—he has maintained his position. Data from Wind shows that Ge Weidong first appeared on the list of top 10 tradable shareholders in mid-2018 and has rarely left the list since. This means his holding period for GigaDevice has now exceeded eight years.
