Six Unitree humanoid robots took the stage alongside Wang Leehom's dance crew, perfectly mirroring their choreography and flawlessly executing synchronized Webster flips during the finale, showcasing remarkable stability and fluidity.
The recent viral video of Unitree's humanoid robots performing alongside Wang Leehom has captured global attention. One blogger remarked, "Chinese robots can now do anything—even dance like professionals. Here, Unitree robots perform Webster flips."
Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk shared the clip, commenting, "Impressive." Many netizens echoed the sentiment, noting China's rapid advancements in robotics—from clumsy movements during the Lunar New Year Gala to polished stage performances in just months.
The collaboration reportedly took over three months of preparation, utilizing Unitree's latest iteration of humanoid robots. These models boast over 17 degrees of freedom, dynamic balance control, and rapid responsiveness, making them ideal for live performances.
At the World Travel & Tourism Council forum in Heilongjiang, Unitree founder and CEO Wang Xingxing stated, "This marks the dawn of a new era for AI, smart robotics, and cultural tourism. Robots can now adapt to diverse cultural scenarios."
Following its debut at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, Unitree has become a tech sensation in the tourism sector. Humanoid robots are transitioning from "cool concepts" to revenue-generating assets, fueled by the cultural tourism boom.
Globally, companies like Tesla Motors (developing Optimus) and Disney are entering the humanoid robotics race. Wang revealed that Disney employs several performance-oriented robots, some powered by Unitree's motors.
"Smart robots are reshaping cultural and tourism industries," Wang emphasized. "Expect more robotic performances worldwide—this year is just the beginning."
However, he believes the "ChatGPT moment for robots" hinges on a critical threshold: achieving 80% task success in unfamiliar scenarios via voice or text commands. Wang predicts this milestone could be reached within two years, enabling mass adoption and a global leap forward.
Intelligent technology is revolutionizing global tourism economics. WTTC forecasts a 6.7% growth in the sector's GDP to $11.7 trillion this year, with China poised to surpass the U.S. as the largest tourism economy by 2031.
"China's tourism market is growing at 15.8%—over twice the global rate—leading technological trends and shaping the future of global tourism. Its innovations, from AI to humanoid robots, will have worldwide impact," noted WTTC's interim President & CEO Gloria Guevara.
