South Korea Secures Four-Month Helium Supply for Semiconductor Sector, Pursues Alternative Oil and Naphtha Sources

Deep News04-07

South Korea's Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Kyung-who stated at a Tuesday press conference that the country urgently needs to secure alternative sources for oil and naphtha until the Middle East situation is resolved, and is actively seeking new supply channels.

Kang mentioned that he will begin visits to Kazakhstan, Oman, and Saudi Arabia later on Tuesday.

South Korea is developing safety measures for 26 South Korean-flagged vessels currently in the Strait of Hormuz, prioritizing crew safety above all else.

Kang emphasized that pursuing bilateral agreements with Iran to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz carries significant risks, noting that this issue requires coordinated multinational action.

He confirmed that South Korea's semiconductor industry has secured a four-month helium supply, with chip manufacturers maintaining inventories without major issues.
