Deep News05-12

Recently, the Ministry of Education issued a document, "Notice of the Ministry of Education on Publishing the 'Undergraduate Program Catalog for Regular Higher Education Institutions (2026)'" (Document Jiao Gao Han [2026] No. 2). Tibet Agricultural and Animal Husbandry College has received approval for two new undergraduate programs to be added to the record for the 2026 academic year: New Energy Science and Engineering (code: 080503T) and Smart Agriculture (code: 090112T). These programs are scheduled to commence formal enrollment in the autumn of 2026.

Program Introduction:

The New Energy Science and Engineering program is grounded in the national "dual carbon" strategy and Tibet's positioning for clean energy development. It addresses major needs such as the development of the Yarlung Tsangpo River hydropower resources and the integrated construction of hydro, wind, solar, and storage systems. By intersecting and integrating the advantages of multiple disciplines including energy engineering, electrical automation, and plateau environmental engineering, and relying on the college's clean energy research platform, the program focuses on core areas such as energy development, energy storage regulation, power operation and maintenance, and multi-energy complementarity in the unique plateau environment. It aims to build a comprehensive talent cultivation system covering the entire clean energy chain. The program adheres to an educational orientation of "based in Tibet, facing the nation, and serving the plateau," committed to cultivating high-quality engineering and technical talents with strong political integrity, adaptability to plateau characteristics, a willingness to take root in frontier regions, and the ability to serve the development of the energy industry. This initiative is intended to lay a solid talent foundation for the scaled and intensive development of Tibet's clean energy industry, ensuring energy security in frontier regions and ecological protection.

The Smart Agriculture program deeply aligns with the strategic deployment for high-quality development of plateau-characteristic agriculture and animal husbandry and rural revitalization. Based on the practical needs of optimizing and enhancing the "One River, Two Tributaries" major grain-producing area and improving the quality and efficiency of characteristic agriculture and animal husbandry industries in southeastern Tibet, and guided by the construction of new agricultural sciences, the program deeply integrates cutting-edge technologies such as agricultural Internet of Things, remote sensing and surveying, big data intelligent analysis, and modern agricultural intelligent equipment. It aims to create an interdisciplinary professional format combining "agriculture + information + engineering." Facing the demand for digital transformation in plateau agriculture and animal husbandry, the program collaborates with high-quality resources both within and outside the region for joint talent cultivation. It focuses on cultivating versatile, high-level talents who possess professional literacy in agricultural sciences, the ability to apply digital technologies, and a commitment to serving plateau rural areas.
