According to a report from Nikkei citing informed sources, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) is in discussions with its clients regarding plans to raise prices by up to 10% starting in 2027, aiming to offset rising production material costs.
The report indicates that, as a primary chip manufacturer for companies like Nvidia and Apple, TSMC has engaged in talks with unnamed customers about increasing its base fees by 5% to 10%. The Nikkei report states that the price adjustments may apply to both advanced and mature process node chips.
TSMC and other chipmakers are currently facing significant increases in multiple production input costs, including raw materials, equipment, and electricity. Earlier this month, TSMC revised upwards its expenditure and revenue forecasts for 2026, reflecting the company's confidence that strong growth in chip and data center demand will continue into 2027 and beyond.
