On August 18, Mayor Zhang Ke chaired a special meeting to review progress in the artificial intelligence sector and outline next-phase priorities. He noted that AI is now deeply embedded across production, daily life, and social governance, serving as a key driver for industrial upgrades and new growth opportunities. All departments and districts must embrace their responsibilities, confront existing gaps with proactive measures, and accelerate task execution to seize the initiative in the AI wave, ultimately channeling these efforts to boost the high-quality development of Zhenjiang.
Mayor Zhang emphasized the need to strengthen professional capacity by establishing a dedicated AI development office at the municipal level to coordinate industry-wide initiatives, enhance research capabilities, and formulate policy frameworks. Each district and department is required to designate specialized teams, recruit skilled personnel, and build expertise in fostering AI-driven growth. Responsibilities must be strictly enforced against provincial and municipal task lists, with unwavering implementation of set goals. He called for swift introduction of the "AI + Manufacturing" action plan tailored to Zhenjiang's circumstances, enabling the formation of distinctive AI industrial clusters through localized development strategies.
Collaborative synergy should be intensified by exploring a "dual recognition" mechanism for task validation, promoting integrated efforts across administrative boundaries and complementary advantages to deliver comprehensive scenario-based innovation services for enterprises. Deepened partnerships with telecom operators are also essential, facilitating mutual empowerment and shared progress through complementary strengths. Policy communication must be amplified through expanded channels and heightened publicity to raise awareness of the comprehensive support package among the public.
The mayor urged rapid formulation of "five maps and six lists" to zero in on core industry domains, driving project attraction and construction tailored to local conditions to accelerate the sector's emergence. A vibrant ecosystem should be cultivated through a series of thematic events, encompassing coordinated release of scenario demands, signing of key projects, and rollout of major policies, ensuring more collaborative ventures take root and deliver tangible results in Zhenjiang. Vice Mayor Zhou Kai and Secretary-General of the Municipal Government Dai Weidong attended the meeting.
